If you are looking through the classified for used cars then you may be confused as to what the ads are actually saying. If you do not understand what you are reading you could end up going to view a car that isn’t what you were looking for at all. Worse still you might even buy it. These are pointers which might make reading these ads a bit easier.
- Make sure that you understand all the most commonly used abbreviations. These abbreviations could include the following: 4WD four wheel drive, 2WD two wheel drive, SNRF sun roof, 4CYL four cylinder, AC Air conditioning, EM Electric mirrors, CL central locking, EW electric windows, RBLT rebuilt, PS power steering, ABS anti-lock braking system, LTHR leather, WARR warranty, TINT tinted windows and ONO or nearest offer.
- The advert that you are reading will usually have some kind of description relating to the condition of the car. Again you will often find abbreviations used to describe this such as; CLN clean, EX COND excellent condition, or G COND good condition.
- The ad should come with the year and millage and you should check to see if this is going to be suitable for your needs.
- There will usually be a guideline price in the classified too. The seller will usually be open to haggling from the buyer and the presence of abbreviations such as ONO or OBO will normally indicate this. But there is always the fear that someone could offer a larger amount of money than you and you could lose the car.
Understanding ads for used cars is a must if you plan on using them to find a new motor. There are many abbreviations used, and sometimes people even make up their own.
When you think it’s time to look out for used cars for sale, you are always better off trying to research your vehicles beforehand. Good research lets you find only the best models available. When your research is done, you could very well end up with a great used peugeot 106 or even a used vauxhall astra.
